Aug/Sept/Oct 2013

Wow.  I can’t believe I have not posted for three months.  I have been busy in school taking more classes.  I am currently enrolled in Design Principles, Manufacturing Practices, Construction and Pattern Drafting at Apparel Arts in San Francisco.  It is a full load with lots of homework.  My kids think I am crazy because I love doing homework.  I am not accustomed to scheduling homework into my already crazy schedule though.  But it’s all good.  I am ecstatically happy spending as much time as I am in my sewing room.  I am tired but inspired and know it will all be worth it.  Besides doing what gives me life, my biggest hope is that I am setting an example for my kids to chase after their dreams and that it is never too late to start.

I began my path down this dream several years ago when I was much younger, but my children were much younger also.  It wasn’t the right time.  I had way more important dreams to chase back then, dreams of being a good wife and mother and putting my kids and marriage first.  But now it is 11 years later, my kids are older (almost all of them are all grown up,) and they are amazing people.  I am still married to my dream guy and best friend.  I will never regret quitting school back then.  I needed to make that decision and my family needed it.

I have done a lot of growing as a woman.  I understand myself better and have learned to like myself. I have more confidence and a desire to share what I have learned with others.  I hope I can make my imprint on this world in a loving, impactful way.

Here are a few pics of what has been happening in my life over the last few months.
